If most of your music is on your hard drive in MP3 or other formats, you might want to organize it neatly. Using the standard tools which come with MS Windows, managing your audio files will be difficult, especially when it comes to editing their tags or analyzing their quality. To make it easier, and in some cases, possible, you can use AudioGrail. It features various tools which can be used for editing different types of ID3 tags, identifying certain details about a track and much more.

The software is available in a free or an expert version. The 3.74 Mb setup file will not take long to download and the installation process is smooth. When it is done, you will have to fill in a questionnaire by selecting a few items from different drop menus.

Audio files can be added by browsing for a folder on the hard drive. The tracks will be organized according to artist and album in a tree structure, on the left half of the interface. The software's core features can be found on the right half. Double clicking their icons will bring different windows, where you may perform various editing tasks. In some cases, you will have to select an audio file before using one of the features.

With the aid of a tag editor, you will be able to associate a title, artist, album, year, genre and other information with individual files. You can either select the file before opening the editor, or you can go from one to another with the aid of Next and Back buttons, on the editor's window.

If you are not sure that a certain track is part of a certain album, an automatic identification feature will give you access to a free database. You can launch it by clicking a button, on the tag editor window, or by selecting an album from the tree structure and double clicking the designated option. The software will search for albums with the same name and it will display them in a list, on a new window. You will also find all the tracks from the album in a second list. After selecting an album and clicking the OK button, a wizard will help you synchronize the tags from the files, find and download a cover art image and more.

Other features will help you search for a specific audio file, burn them to a CD, clean or remove their tags, find duplicates or files with incomplete tags, create playlists and much more. Each feature will bring up different options, which are not hard to understand. Most of them involve clicking check boxes or selecting items from drop menus.

Pros

The software provides the user with many tools for organizing audio files, editing their tags and more. Everything is neatly organized on the interface, so the program can be used with great ease and comfort.

Cons

It would be more comfortable if it were possible to access its features by clicking buttons, instead of double clicking icons. Using AudioGrail, you will be able to manage all your audio files in one run. From accessing statistics to editing their tags, you can perform a wide range of actions.
